The fabric we chose is an Asian print that includes flowering branches and flowers on the fans. These flowers appear to be stylized plum blossoms due to the branch form and 5 petals shown on most blossoms. 5 petal flowers are indicative of good luck in China. The flowering plum, in particular, has been a powerful Chinese symbol for over a millennium. Its ability to blossom amid ice and snow has made it a symbol of new beginnings, virtue, and fortitude.
